Welcome to my blog!  I would like to introduce you to my family before diving into sharing with all of you.  Our family is far from ordinary so I feel introductions would be best to help you understand where I am coming from in my writing.

My Husband

Christmas familyMy husband and I have been married for 10 years.  We treat our marriage as a partnership and work together as a team in all we do.  I love that even though I work from home, he realizes that there still isn’t enough time in the day to get everything done and helps me manage the kids and household chores when he is home.  He even handles many of the middle of the night diaper changes!  Yes, I know I am extremely blessed to be married to this man.  He is a very dedicated family man and serves regularly at our church in numerous ways.  I love how he leads our family and models Christ like behavior to our children.

So far that sounds pretty ordinary right?  What isn’t so ordinary about our family is our children.  We have two kids, for the sake of this blog our son will go by “Grasshopper” and our daughter will be referred to as “Ladybug”.

Grasshopper

Grasshopper just turned 8 and is going into 2nd grade.  He is a highly energetic young man!  His hobbies include legos, super heros, transformers, and video games.  His favorite classes include Science, History, and Math.  He loves all things nature and will often grab my phone to take 20 pictures of a spider or other creatures he found outside.

Ladybug

Ladybug is 7 and going into 1st grade.  First let me state the obvious, yes she is adopted (you would be surprised how often we’re asked that question).  Ladybug joined our family from Haiti when she was 9 months old.  She has cerebral palsy, which has dramatically changed our family.  I will be sharing more about her diagnosis and what it means for our day to day life in another post.  She loves school, Frozen (what little girl doesn’t?) and Charlie Brown.  She enjoys reading books and would sit on my lap all day long reading if she could.

I am really excited to share with you our life experiences as I journey down the path of homeschooling and raising a special needs child.  My hope is you can find hope, encouragement, and ideas to help you through your journey as well.
