Mothering is exhausting work. Whether you’re a stay at home, work from home, or work out of the home mom; chances are, you’re a tired mom. The demands placed on us day in and day out never end. It’s no wonder we’re tired all the time.
The problem with being tired all the time is that it becomes easy for us to lose our joy. Before we know it we’ve lost the drive that keeps us going. Living in a constant state of being tired is not how God wants us to live. He wants us to find rest in Him. The following is a list of Bible verses I’ve found helpful in times when my tiredness boarders on burn out.
“Give Your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” Psalm 55:22
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the lord, not for human masters.” Colossians 3″23
“Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest.” Exodus 34:21
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
“The Lord replied, ‘My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.'” Exodus 33:14
“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.” Psalm 62:5
“Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you.” Psalm 86:4
“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” Psalm 94:19
“Restore to me the joy of my salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.” Psalm 51:12
“There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.” Proverbs 23:18
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12
“You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.” Psalm 119:114
As you can see, the central theme in these verses are rest, joy, and hope. Something every mom needs from time to time. I hope you’re able to find one or two verses that speaks to you. Study it, and remember it when you’re going through a day when you’re especially tired and exhausted.
I pray you’ll remember to take some time to rest with God. I know it’s really hard to do, especially in our busy lives. If we’re to find true rest in Him however, it’s important to make this a priority.
