My all time favorite hobby is to travel.  I love to get away and take vacations.  In fact I’ll usually spend the trip back home from a vacation planning the next one.  My dream would be to get an RV, my husband got a job that allowed him to work from anywhere, and we take our homeschool on the road.  There are so many great field trip opportunities.  Hitting the road for a year sounds amazing to me.  Unfortunately RV’s and power wheelchairs don’t work well together long term.  Plus, we really can’t leave Ladybug’s therapies/treatments for too long.  I also wish I field trip | field trips | field trip ideas | homeschool field trips | homeschool field trip | homeschool field trip ideas | homeschooling field trips | homeschooling field trip ideas | vacationcould say that we take nice vacations frequently but unfortunately our budget doesn’t allow for that.  However, that being said I still dream of all the trips I want to take.

The following is a list of field trips in the U.S. that are on my bucket list.

  1. Creation Museum  – Located in Kentucky, this museum if filled with Biblically historical exhibits.  They compare evolution to the Bible to support creation.  There is a petting zoo, planetarium and so much more.  It looks amazing
  2. Ark Encounter  – This is a sister museum to the Creation Museum.  They are geographically close and we would do both in one trip.  This is a life size experience of Noah’s Ark bringing the Bible to life, need I say more?
  3. Washington D.C. – Our nation’s capital is filled with historical sites and museums to visit
  4. Grand Canyon – I’ve been there as a teenager and it’s beautiful.  This sight is a majestic display of God’s creation.  I want my family to see it.
  5. Kennedy Space Center – Learn about space exploration and see a space shuttle.  Plan accordingly and you can see a launch which is pretty amazing!
  6. Boston, Philadelphia, Virginia – Basically I would love to go to the key cities of the American Revolution.  There are so many rich historical experiences in these cities.
  7. Yellowstone National Park – I hear it’s beautiful and would make for some amazing nature exploration.
  8. Hawaii – Ok, this is just pleasure.  We live in Minnesota and it would be nice to go in January.  We could squeeze in a study on volcanoes to make it a field trip 😉
  9. Rocky Mountains – They’re beautiful.  There are no mountains where we live, again another amazing aspect of God’s creation to explore.
  10. San Diego Zoo – Our kids love animals and zoos.  They know our zoo like the back of their hand.  It would be really cool to take them here.

This certainly isn’t an exhaustive list.  I did not include local day trip type field trips.  No matter what part of the country you live in I’m sure you have local museums for art/history to visit which also make great field trips.  Because I love to travel, this is a list of destination/vacation type field trips.  I’m sure I could add more too it!

Where are your favorite field trip destinations?  I would love to hear them, comment below!
